Veneers for Teeth: Here’s What to Expect

Veneers for teeth are stain-resistant porcelain pieces that cover your natural teeth.  Dental Veneers are used to fill gaps between teeth and bring out the full potential of your smile.  Veneers can also strengthen front teeth that may have some cracks, helping to prevent catastrophic breaks.

Maybe you have started entertaining the idea of veneers for your teeth so that your smile can be its best.  So, what do you do next?  The first step is to ask us; we’ll start the process.  Here is generally what you can expect:

Our Dental Veneers Improve Your Smile

We’ll start by taking x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth to determine your goals and expectations for your smile.  Once we know what you want, we’ll get down to the actual application.  We’ll remove a portion of the enamel from the necessary teeth (just a fraction of a millimeter), and then make an impression of your teeth which helps the dental laboratory create the veneer.  It will take a week or two for the veneer to be constructed and completed, during which time you will enjoy temporary veneers so you can get adjusted to your new smile!

After approximately 3 weeks, we’ll have you return to the office to cement and apply the veneers.  We’ll adjust it to make sure the veneer is in the proper position, and then get the cement to set.  Our dental lab is conveniently located just next door, so sometimes we will walk you over to our dental lab technician so that we can perfectly characterize and color your veneers.  This ensures that they match perfectly to your existing teeth.  That will wrap up the procedure and you’ll be ready to see your brand new smile! We’ll also want to have a few check-ups to follow up the procedure, just to make sure you’re doing well with your new smile.
