Dr. Burton was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. The sixth of eight children, he learned early in his life from his siblings and single-parent mother to work hard to achieve his goals. Dr. Burton attended UNC Chapel Hill for his undergraduate degree in Chemistry with minors in Biology and Japanese, graduating with honors and entering Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
Dr. Burton remained in Chapel Hill where he met his wife Ashlea Ross, a UNCG alumna and Greensboro native, and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from UNC School of Dentistry in 2017. While attending dental school, Dr. Burton was elected by classmates to serve as their representative on the American Student Dental Association and upon graduation he received the Student Leader in Organized Dentistry Award for his exceptional leadership while at UNC.
Dr. Burton completed an advanced education in general dentistry residency at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center where he felt fortunate to be able to serve our nation’s veterans and focus his training on dental implant placement, surgery, restorative dentistry, and root canal therapy. Since residency, Dr. Burton has shown commitment to offering exceptional care to his patients by devoting hundreds of hours of his time toward continuing education in dentistry. He is on track to graduate from the prestigious Kois Center in Seattle, WA, a world-renowned institution for higher learning in dentistry under the mentorship of Dr. John Kois.
Outside of work, Dr. Burton loves being a “girl-dad” to his 3 incredible daughters and adventuring around Greensboro with his family. He also enjoys backpacking, pickleball, Ultimate Frisbee, volunteering with his church youth group, and playing the occasional Nintendo game when he can find the time. He and his wife have loved making Greensboro their family home since 2018!
Your Greensboro Dentist: Brittany P. Blue, D.D.S.
Dr. Blue (previously Dr. Semones) is so thankful that Friendly Dentistry brought her to Greensboro, a community she loves and is proud to call “home.” She enjoys getting to know new patients and helping them achieve excellent oral health. Dr. Blue has been at Friendly Dentistry since August 2011, and she truly feels that this practice has something special.
Dr. Blue grew up in Charlotte, NC, and received both her Bachelor’s Degree and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in school, she was honored to be the recipient of various educational scholarships, including the Hinman Scholarship in 2009. After graduating from Dental School in 2010, Dr. Blue completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond, VA. However, she was happy to return to her home state of North Carolina so that she could be closer to her family.
Dr. Blue strongly believes that the key to providing the best quality dental care is through continuous dental education. In 2012, she completed a year-long course at the Triangle Dental Institute, where her sole focus was the placement of dental implants. She also obtained her Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Additionally, Dr. Blue has traveled extensively to Seattle, WA, where she has become a graduate of the Kois Center, under the direction of Dr. John Kois, a world-renown dental instructor. Due to her emphasis on dental implants, Dr. Blue has had excellent success in placing dental implants. Thanks to her, our patients are able to obtain almost all of their dental treatment right here in our office. Dr. Blue maintains commitment to organized dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Guilford County Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the North Carolina Dental Society.
Dr. Blue also has a strong commitment to community service. She is an active member of the Junior League of Greensboro, where she has chaired multiple committees and served on the Executive Board. In the past, she represented the 3rd district on the board of North Carolina Missions of Mercy (NCMOM), an organization dedicated to providing free dental care to those without access or funds. Giving back to the greater Greensboro community, she is a member of the Future Fund (part of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro), which is an organization of young professionals dedicated to improving our community by distributing grant funds to local nonprofits. Previously, she held a board position on the Future Fund Steering Committee and participated on the Grantmaking Committee.
A born-and-bred Tar Heel, Dr. Blue enjoys all things Chapel Hill, especially Carolina Basketball. She recently married her college sweetheart, Tom Blue; hence the recent name change to Blue! She enjoys staying active, spending time with her family and friends, and taking trips to the Greensboro Farmer’s Market. She loves experiencing new things, and you are likely to find her checking out the local haunts of Greensboro (new and old) and traveling. She is most cozy, however, sitting on her deck with some good conversation, good food, and her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Penny and Piper!
