Dental Veneers in Greensboro, NC

There are countless reasons why you should flash your pearly whites. One of them is that smiling just makes you feel good. It may sound cliché, but we typically think more optimistic and less stressed when we show the world a big old-fashioned grin. It even helps us walk away with a little more pep in our step.

However, not everyone’s teeth are created equal, and some people may want to hide their teeth rather than show them off.  This can be especially hard for professionals who work in the public eye such as musicians, journalists, and salespeople. If you want to smile, but are used to always hiding it, our cosmetic dentists can redesign your smile with veneers.

Friendly Dentistry provides efficient and painless dental services in Greensboro, NC and will answer all of your questions and take all of the precautions to ensure that you are entirely comfortable with your veneer procedure. Don’t put off that perfect smile you know you’ve always deserved. Contact our dentist office for a consultation or schedule a veneer appointment today!

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are custom-made paper-thin, super strong, slices of porcelain bonded to the front of your teeth. The porcelain has a lifelike appearance, and it’s made to match the luminosity, color, and features of your natural teeth. No one will be able to tell you’re wearing them.

Porcelain veneers, also known as dental veneers, resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic light reflecting characteristics of your natural teeth as well.

How Does the Dental Veneer Procedure Work?

For your dental veneer procedure, you can expect about three trips to the dentist: one for a consultation and most likely two to create and apply the veneers.

At Friendly Dentistry, you have an active role in the dental veneer procedure. We will listen carefully to your objectives for your smile. What are your preferences about the shape, length, color, and shape for your new smile? If you’re unsure, our smile guide of photos can help you make important decisions about how your new grin should look.

Step 1

One of the first steps is an x-ray of your teeth. We’ll also need to examine your gums to make sure they are healthy. These initial steps help us determine whether you are a candidate for veneers. If you are, we’ll need to treat any problems with your teeth or gums first.

Step 2

Some dental offices use no-prep veneers, which do not require any preparation of your natural teeth. Other types of veneers involve trimming a very tiny amount of enamel (approximately 0.5 millimeters) from the front of your teeth. This dental veneer procedure prevents your veneers from looking too bulky or thick; and also offers a more natural look in the areas where your veneers will meet your gum line. We will take impressions of your teeth to ensure a perfect fit. There is no reason to be concerned.
Together with Friendly Dentistry’s experience and your input, we will produce a wax model of your new smile.

Step 3

Then, we will talk about what you like it, and discuss what doesn’t work. Adjustments will be made until it’s precisely the way you envision it. After you approve the model, we’ll record the details for translucence, color and other characteristics that will help make your veneers look entirely natural. After that, temporary veneers or provisional ones will be made for you to try on.
Keep in mind that the temporary veneers are a close replication of how your porcelain veneers are going to look and feel. They will be secured to your teeth with dental try-in paste, and you’ll need to wear them, look at them carefully and ask a friend or family member how they look. It’s important to us that you love your new smile and are entirely convinced that it complements your facial features and personality so you can be as confident in it as possible. Let us know if you don’t ultimately love the look, and we’ll make the proper adjustments.

Step 4

After you approve the temporary model, instructions and pictures of your face and teeth will be sent to our ceramist in charge of crafting your porcelain veneers. At your next appointment, you will try them to see how they look and feel.
Note: the veneers will not be permanently bonded to your teeth until you’re completely thrilled with your new smile.
Finally, you will come back to our office for a checkup appointment to make sure the veneers look and function like healthy, natural teeth.
