Answering Your Questions about Invisalign Clear Braces:
What’s the Process of Obtaining Invisalign Clear Braces?
If our Greensboro Dentists determine Invisalign is right for your case, we’ll use the examination, along with x-rays and a 3-D model of your teeth to establish a treatment plan for you. The treatment plan will establish how your teeth need to be moved and how long it will take to align them. The x-rays, 3-D model, and pictures of your teeth will be sent to the Invisalign laboratory where your customized aligners will be made. The 3-D model will also let you see how Invisalign will progressively correct your teeth.
How is it Wearing Invisalign Clear Braces?
When we receive your first set of aligners, you will come to the office for us to check them for fit and make any adjustments necessary. You will wear the aligners all day, every day. Invisalign is removable, so when you eat or floss and brush your teeth, you’ll remove them.
It’s easy to wear Invisalign. Just place the clear braces over your teeth. You will wear each set of aligners for two weeks. At first they will fit tightly because they are designed to gently and precisely move your teeth. After a few days, your teeth will gradually move to a new position. You will notice that your aligners will feel a little loose, but don’t switch them early. Wear them for the entire two weeks. This gives your teeth and gums time to adjust to the new position. If you switch them too early, it can interfere with your treatment plan.
Every six weeks or so, you will have an appointment in our office to check the aligners and the progress of your treatment. The checkups also help us determine if any adjustments need to be made to the aligners or your treatment plan.
How Do Invisalign Clear Braces Feel?
Invisalign is much more comfortable than traditional braces. Remember that your teeth are being shifted to a new position, so you can expect to feel some mild discomfort as they move. The pressure you will feel on your teeth when you first put on a new set of aligners will gradually go away in a few days. If you feel any significant discomfort or pain, give us a call. We’ll schedule an appointment with you to take a look at your teeth, gums, and aligners to ensure proper fit.
How Long Do Invisalign Clear Braces Take To Straighten my Teeth?
The average treatment time for adults is one year. Treatment time for teenagers varies. Each case is different, so after your teeth are examined and digital images are taken, you’ll receive an estimated treatment time from our Greensboro dental professionals.
How Much Do These Invisalign Clear Braces Cost?
The cost of Invisalign depends on your case—the severity of the misalignment of your teeth and how long it will take to move them to the correct position. After your teeth and the x-rays and 3D model of them are examined, we will let you know the details of your treatment plan, as well as the cost.
What Happens After the Invisalign Clear Braces are Removed?
After any orthodontic treatment, whether it’s Invisalign or some other treatment, most dentists recommend that you wear a retainer. A retainer is designed to keep your teeth in alignment. Without it, your teeth will gradually move back to their former position. If your teeth start to shift, you may need to temporarily wear aligners again to reposition your teeth. Your dentist will determine which type of aligner is right for your case.
